Thread your sewing machine with fusible thread in the bobbin and MonoPoly monofilament in the top of the machine. Sew around the flagpole just inside (1mm or less than 1/16th" inside) the trace line on the right side of the fabric through the single layer of gold fabric. Do not sew the bottom of the flagpole. For illustration purposes I used black thread instead of monofilament – you can see the stitching in the photo below.

With right side up place this stitched single layer on to a Teflon Pressing Sheet as shown in the photo above. Press this piece flat so that the fusible thread has melted. Use a heat setting on your iron that is appropriate for the fabric that you are using.

Note: the piece will stick slightly to the Teflon sheet but will peel up easily.
